Ensure Adequate Nutrition
Eat as much whole grains as you like to fulfill your appetite each day, and add the other foods in the proportions shown to ensure adequate nutrition and settle at your natural optimum health. Have fun and don't forget sometimes breaking rules is a good way to learn thoroughly!

This site has a great deal of useful information to get you started on figuring out how to ensure you are getting optimum nutrition.  Pay attention to how you feel, your body is going to tell you - once you get past the cravings caused by regular extreme foods you can start to rely on it.  However do on track by keeping in mind the basic principles.

Whilst I don't personally adhere to the very Japanese approach featured in the Macrobiotic approach, (preferring to range globally far and wide!) I have noticed that the macrobiotic recommendations are the foods which have the highest nutritional value.  For example
- kale, the most nutritional green
- aduki beans, the most nutritional bean.
- brown rice, the most nutritional grain
and so on, all worked out for us!
